Privacy Policy

What type of information we have

Biochain Limited (“Biochain” or “we”) is a UK-based company and is the data processor or data controller (dependent on circumstances) of personal information for the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (the “GDPR”). Biochain takes data privacy very seriously as it holds personal information on its project stakeholders.

The processing and storing of some personal information is an unavoidable part of Biochain’s usual business activities. Such information may include:

  • your name and contact details;

  • details of your professional background; and/or

  • details of any communications you have had with Biochain.

We do not intentionally collect or maintain information about anyone under the age of 13.

How we get the information and why we have it

The personal information we obtain and process is sourced from you if you contact Biochain or from any research we undertake when assessing partnership opportunities or pursuing other legitimate business purposes. Any personal information we obtain or process will either be publicly available or provided by you when you interact with Biochain.

Under the GDPR, the lawful bases we rely on for collecting and processing your information are:

  • Performance of a contract: We will sometimes need to use your personal information to perform our obligations under contracts with you or other stakeholders.

  • Legitimate interest: We will sometimes need to process your personal information in order to achieve our legitimate business purposes, e.g. implementing project partnerships or providing our products and services. There is no other feasible way of effectively conducting our business. The impact of the processing on you is minimised and would not override these legitimate interests.

What we do with the information we have

We use the information that we obtain to develop and provide products and services and to generally operate our business. We will not make any automatic decisions on the basis of your information.

We will not share your personal information with any third parties except to the extent necessary to properly provide our products and services, pursue our legitimate business interests or as required by law.

How we hold your information

Your information is securely processed and held on encrypted device(s) in the United Kingdom and/or through reputed email service provider(s), web hosting provider(s) and/or cloud storage provider(s).

We will not keep your personal information for any longer than is necessary. We will keep your information until such time as it is no longer valid or needed or you specifically request its removal.
